                        SIGNIFICATION OF GLOBALIZATION IN THE FIELDS OF SOCIAL SCIENCES,                                POLITICS, AND JOURNALISM OF RUSSIA AND USA

Abstract

Background. Modern society is experiencing a transition towards a global social space. Completion of the process of transit is impossible not only without the institutionalization of the global order, but without any change in the value field of the company, construction of a global social reality. The work purpose – the analysis of existing options of signification of globalization by various social subjects.
Materials and methods. For the analysis of variants of marking used scientific articles that reflect the modern views on globalization (W. L. Inosemzev, W. G. Fedotova, Z. Brzezinski, I. Wallerstein and other), documents reflecting the position of politicians («The foreign policy concept of the Russian Federation», the program of political parties and other), the media («Rossiyskaya Gazeta», «Komsomolskaya Pravda», «The New York Times»). Methodological basis of research is social phenomenology (P. Bourdieu). Results. The analysis of variants of signification of globalization in the communication fields of social sciences, politics, and journalism. Mapped view of globalization between the respective fields of Russia and USA.
Conclusions. In the field of social sciences globalizing society signifying, on the one hand, as a society of interdependent economy, politics and culture, technologically advanced, information. On the other hand – as the vast freedom of the individual, colonialist project of the Western countries, undermining the nation-states, their economy, depriving national identity. Information bifurcation in politics and journalism associated with signification of globalization as a positive phenomenon (official policy and the official media) or a fundamentally negative phenomena (political opposition and the «anti-globalists»). The analysis allows to conclude that the definition of globalization remains a local process. Formation variants of marking mainly limited to the fields of social sciences and policy, in a small degree field of journalism.
